Facebook Ads

Why use Facebook Ads?

Facebook gives some of the best audience targeting options.

How do Facebook ads work?

In general, ads on Facebook consist of Format (what the ad looks like), Placement (where the ad shows up). Audience (choose which users you want to advertise to), Budget (how much you want to spend), and Objective (your goal for the ad).

Where do Facebook Ads appear?

Ads on Facebook can appear in 6 places:

  • Feed: Ads appear in the News Feed for people accessing Facebook computers or mobile devices.

  • Stories: Ads appear in stories on Facebook. Ads in stories only appear to users browsing stories and they expire after 24 hours.

  • Marketplace: Ads appear in the Marketplace home page or when users browse Marketplace in the mobile app.

  • Right column: Ads appear in the right-side columns across Facebook for people on their computers.

  • Instant Articles: Ads appear in Instant Articles within the mobile app.

  • In-stream video: Ads appear as short videos in both Live video and Video-on-Demand.

What do Facebook Ads look like?

Types of ads on Facebook (11 options):

  • Images: Drive people to destination websites or apps through high-quality visuals.

  • Videos: Show off product features and draw people in with sound and motion.

  • Lead Generation: Lead ads on Facebook and Instagram help you collect info from people interested in your business. A lead ad is presented using an image, video, or carousel, and followed by a lead form when the user engages with the ad.

  • Page Likes: Page likes ads can be used to drive users to like your page.

  • Event Responses: Event response ads can be used to promote awareness of your event and drive responses.

  • Offers: Discounts you can share with your customers.

  • Collection Ads: Encourage shopping by displaying items from your product catalog— customized for each individual.

  • Carousel Ads: Showcase up to ten images or videos within a single ad, each with its own link.

  • Slideshow Ads: Use motion, sound, and/or text to tell your story.

  • Instant Experience: Let people open a full-screen, mobile-optimized experience instantly.
